Hand-forged knife, made of carbon steel, oxidised with beeswax. This is a copy of a knife found in Biskupin, Poland. This type of knife appeared in the 7th century among the slavic and awar findings. It spread from an area between the Danube and the Dniester. They began to gradually phase out of use in 9-10th century. They were probably used for sacrificial killing of animals,  hence their gradual disappearance with the advent of Christianity. Overall length 180mm, blade length 60mm, blade width (at the widest point) 15mm, blade thickness 3mm.
