Bushcraft is the ability to survive and thrive away from civilization. At its most basic level, bushcraft skills will allow you to feed yourself, but there’s so much more to it than that. Given enough time and skill, a proficient bushcrafter will be able to equip a very comfortable shelter with a range of nutritious food to sustain your time in the wilds.
A bushcraft knife is a fixed blade knife which is stored in a sheath and carried on the belt or in a pack as a survival knife. The blade should be sturdy enough to allow you to split wood and be sharp enough to shave tinder for your fire. A square-edged spine on a carbon steel knife will allow you to easily produce sparks from your firesteel.
With a bushcraft knife you will be able to set up a camp, build a shelter, prepare a fire, skin an animal and prepare food.
